 9 Sep.  Usagi-dake Hut - Akaishi-dake - Arakawa Hut

Beautiful sunny day with no cloud in the sky, which means you suffer the harsh sun beam...

Anyway, I started towards Akaishi-dake tracing rocky ridge lines. Shortly after started, I reached the peak of Ko-usagi-dake. The previous day I stayed at Usagi-dake hut and "Usagi" means "rabbit". Today's peak "Ko-usagi" means "small rabbit".

What a cute mountains!

When I got to Akaishi-dake, I was already exhausted.

It was a hot sunny day and there were many ups and downs but probably the main reason was my food. I didn't have enough food to keep energy because I was too afraid of carrying much food when I started this journey. I underestimated the importance of food.

So, now my motto is "Carry less clothing and gear to make space for food".

I was too tired this day and decided to stay at the next hut, Arakawa Hut.

I had heard that I could see beautiful view of Mt. Fuji from Arakawa Hut so put my tent towards East.

 10 Sep. Arakawa Hut - Warusawa-dake - Senmai Hut

Unfortunately it was cloudy and couldn't see the Mt. Fuji with sunrise but it cleared later. Lucky me, I've got only one rainy day so far.

There were so many flowers in the valley facing South. The valley catched sun light so it was warm and the flowers were in full bloom. It was like a paradise.

Hiked through Naka-dake, Warusawa-dake and Maruyama before getting to Senmai Hut. This day I took a detour to Senmai Hut to see a friend of mine. You don't need to come here if you simply hike through the Southern Alps.

But the hike between Arakawa-dake and Senmai Hut is awesome. It's worth walking.

My friend was working at the hut and they kindly invited me to the dinner. I had more than three cups of rice to charge energy... I'm sorry for being that greedy... But I needed to compensate the lack of food...

There is a good camp site beside the hut surrounded by the pine trees. What a refreshing air. But there are foxes around there, be careful.
